Post The new DAL Safety Video is all the rage...

Even got some press on CNN today

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

here's the entire video on youtube
+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

If you haven't seen it, i don't think it's that bad...the parts i actually really like and think people will tune into are the sections where the FA talks about the cell phone, where the pilots talking thru the microphone, the FA does the flotation device example (hehe) and where the FA wags her finger... now, personally, i don't see a problem with the wagging finger thing, it's kinda flirty (nothing wrong with flirty IMO) but i hear rumors that the international Delta FA's don't like it - one bit....Doug got his head bit off once when one of the FA's baited him on the question of whether or not he liked it (according to the capt, he was supposed to say no). I don't know what the domestic FA's are thinking about it...

so, i wonder why other FA's don't like it....it'll help improve their image & Delta's image, it'll help improve business...so what's so wrong with the new video?

I just checked it out! I think its actually hip and informative..

anything more than that finger wag and I'd say TOO sexy..its a little borderline for me. But hey, others may see it as a throw back to when being a flight attendant was a bit of a sex symbol. I am just safety nerd, so I wouldn't want to see people focus more on the sexiness of a video and lose respect for the safety lesson. But thats just me.

apparently, they are calling the starring f/a " Deltalina " because she is said to resemble Angelina Joile.

yep, i agree on the "anything more" part. haha

also, just heard that USAirways is creating a new safety demo and that should be out fairly soon... i hope they do something just as interesting and innovative as DAL's.

This is the first I have seen or heard of this video?? What is wrong with it? I thought it was very informative. Much more so than some of the flight attendants that actually make the announcements. Why don't the flight attendants like it? Sorry. I don't watch the news much so I get behind on all of gossip. I thought the part where they pointed out all the exits on the picture of the airplane was good. And the fact that they showed where all of the life vests were located and how to get them out.

I think the video is good. However, the flirty finger waving seems out of place/context. Yeah, so the main FA is very attractive. But in no other part of the video is she suggestive or provocative. So it seems a little strange to have this one out of place flirtacious moment. The video would have been just as informative, effective, and entertaining sans finger wave.

Another strange things I noticed is that aside from the main FA, no other FA featured in the video is particularly beautiful. I guess showcasing other FAs that are not outrageously attractive (though by no means ugly) unnecessarily accentuates the attractiveness of the main FA.

I feel like we are all doing a marketing thing for Delta!

Honestly, the more I think about it I think the finger wave is flirtatious in that its a tease. I mean, I have only seen that type of gesture with adults talking to kids...for example " noooo more cookies for you.."

Also, I can see some sickos watching it and getting all excited becuase it could be interpreted as a sexual tease..you know like the start of a certain type of adult movie I'll just say.

Kristie, I am wondering if some of the Delta F/A's are annoyed by it becuase they feel uncomfortable standing there while it plays? Does Delta do that for their saftey demo? When I was at Continental we had stand in the isles while it played to represent, or for questions. That's why I am saying maybe some F/A's feel it brings snickers from the sickos in the front row starring at them??

Keep us posted !

I watched the video twice before I read the information you posted under the video, Kristie. So I had some opinions before even reading your information about the FA not liking the main flight attendent or the finger wag.

The finger wag made me laugh. I can see the sex side of it. But I immediatly thought of the adult/child tone first. Kinda like an inside joke. Been on a plane many times and watched adults act like childern about various safety measures. Kinda nice to see the crew get to treat them according to their childish behavior. But I can see how flight attendents wouldn't like it.

I liked that they actually show the vest under the seat. I have always been tempted to bend over and search for it when I sit up front. But I didn't want to look like a goof.

Delta's new marketing dept leaked this video in Feb and it's getting attention, all right!!
First, IF I'd had the opportunity to that video when I was modeling, I probably would have done the finger wag as directed--It's adorable! I think "sexy" is the wrong description--but it tells the pax "no naughty business" in a firm way. Even FF medallion members look up to the monitor.

Understand that she teaches FA program and is grooming a new crop FA's to replace some of the 40 and 50 yr vets who will not surrender their high pass seniority and retire. Some of these flight attendants, who are not bound by weight and agility tests can't even get themselves into a raft, much less wag a finger at bad pax in an emergency situation. It's time to move along, and at 54, if I could attract attention while I'm on a safety video, more power to me! I really dislike Angelina Joile, and all her politics and adoption publicity and whining about how hard it is to be a mother...blah blah blah--She's a pretender and that's what actors do--they pretend, and "Deltalina" is doing a JOB. So, who do you want on your flight--an aisle donkey who's wider than the cart, or a finger-wagging, pouty-lipped FA, who demonstrates what's important--SAFETY.

My 2 cents' worth.
PS--I saw some FA's in Brazil that I hope will never be on my husband's flights--EVER--(just kidding--but they were HOT HOT HOT and dressed the same) but I know who I am and who he married and if he thinks she's darling, too ,and does her job, he's happy!

I liked it. I don't see anything wrong with it. The only part I found odd as where the pilot was talking into the mic. I wonder why the FA's don't like it. Its better than them actually having to memorize it, right (or read it out of a book like they do at United)??

As a former FA, I was over the moon when we got the automated safety announcement system. When ACA turned into Independence Air, they had celebrities do the safety annoucements. That was pretty cool. It was light hearted and funny and it go the point across at the same time.

I think its nice to see something other than the usual, borning, safety annoucement. This DAL one nice and easy on the eyes.

ok, this actually made me laugh...the finger wag def. got a chuckle, but the best part, was how the male fa's teeth gleamed and glittered when he smiled at the end! haha, I think it's def. more eye catching and something I'd watch...overall, I didn't see anything to it, meaning offensive/what not...
