Default New job that didn't last :(

I haven't been on here for a few months, but for those who do remember, my husband and I are located in Ontario and he was looking for a job back in December. He finally got offered a ground position at NACair, located in Thompson, Manitoba. So, we packed up and moved during new years. He was working with them for 2 weeks, and the company folded. There are rumors to why this happened... I'm not sure if anyone has heard anything in regards to this?? Anyway, we ended up moving back to Ontario and we are now working trying to save up money to move again for his next job because unfortunately, we didn't see a dime from the company for the hours my husband worked. It's unfortunate, but I hear this is just the way the aviation industry works. My husband expected that something like this would happen to him at somepoint, but not his first job, and certainly not 2 wks into it!!!

Sarah, I am so sorry to hear this!! That's got to be a rough blow... Kudos to you and your DH for continuing on in this industry and not letting this setback get you down. It really shows how committed you and he are to making this dream come true.

Try to look at it as a blessing in disguise. Maybe his next job will be one that he really likes and will further his career in a positive way.

(((HUGS)))

That is so unfortunate to hear. I am so sorry!! That must be really tough on the both of you , but it sounds like you both are doing an awesome job at getting through it together. I always look at it as everything happens for a reason. So hopefully this is just a little bump in the road and his next job will be better!! Good luck with everything.

OMG, that's awful! I haven't heard anything about it. so your hubby didn't see that coming at all? I guess this next job, he's doing his research on the background/history/financials of the company and asking future coworkers about their thoughts?

I've seen/heard of FBO's or flight schools/academies folding on a dime's notice (with students never able to get their $$ back) but I haven't heard of a major company folding without warning flags. usually there are hints early on the road or some type of yellow flags that show up or something.

the good thing is that it's no fault of his that the company went under so it won't look at all bad to have his 2 weeks on his resume.

one suggestion i'd like to make though is if his next company is out of town again, it might not be a bad idea to have him go work the company for a bit, see how it goes and then move you and the family over once things look stabilized. That way, you two prevent something like this from ever happening again kwim?! just a thought!

I am crossing my fingers for a better opportunity for my husband... there is nothing he loves more than flying (except for me... maybe?!! lol) and I support him no matter what!
