I guess its a good thing DH didn't apply just yet. But at least this gives us time to save up more money and pay off our car before he gets a pay cut.

he can still put his app in anytime at airlineapps.com, i hear they're the hiring pit for quite a few airlines.

might not be bad to get him into the queue and then have him update his application every month until the airlines he's interested in start hiring again.

i hear those applications on airlineapps can be a pain and each i needs to be dotted, t's crossed..it can take some time to accomplish and make sure everything is correct. one thing i've heard from a lot of hiring folks who use airlineapps is that they don't call a lot of people on there unless everything is perfectly filled out and up to date. the more often you update it, the better.

Add CAL to the list....

New hire classes at CAL are cancelled (people who had April classes just got the call). So they are now in the pool.....just got word on ExpressJet Pilots

Southwest is still hiring from their pool (about 250-300 deep)....they are having 3 classes in April- 1 class of retired guys that are returning and 2 classes of newhires with 24 in each class. Word is no other classes until fall.....we are hoping for an early '09 class date at this point.

yea, a friend of ours just got hired there and he's #13 in the pool. at least he knows he's in a pool, that's better than them hiring you, starting training and then canceling during training or what not and/or furloughing...

he can still keep his day job until CAL calls him up.

btw, i thought your hubby already started at SWA?

Nope....we have been waiting for a class date since he got his type in July....they slowed hiring since then...so he has been in the pool.

I think that ASA has stopped hiring. I know that the last bid award was cancelled for Captains and FOs. And that was for an effective date of 8/08. As for flying, Delta is pulling ASA out of several smaller markets, but ASA will be acquiring 4 CRJs worth of flying out of Florida for service starting in May. Service from MCO to various Florida cities and other places. I think it is replacing Freedom flying. That's about all I know right now.

I'm pretty sure Northwest stopped hiring also.

Hasn't effected Republic Airways (Chautauqua, Shuttle, & Republic) yet.

Fiance said Mesaba is still hiring (as far as he knows). They're still taking delivery of quite a few new CRJ900s that will need crews. I think once they acquire the planes they'll want to fly them not ground them. We'll see what kind of hit Mesaba may take for forging forward in these times of high costs.

He's not surprised NWA grounded all those DC-9s. Those planes are gas hogs and were already slated to be grounded (and replaced by the CRJ900s operated by Mesaba). The high costs probably just expedited that action.

To add to that, ASA is getting rid of there ATR's so, Jason told me alot of the junoir pilots will be back on reserve. Also they froze promotions to Capts. I know the smaller markets are going to include Atlantic City and places in Mississippi.
