Default Delta offers to buy out 30,000

Delta plans to buy out 30,000 workers and cut capacity by 5% - Mar. 18, 2008

The airline industry is an interesting one...you just never know what will happen next.

Nick just told me about this earlier.
You're right- you never know what's going to happen!

It's good to have a back-up plan "just in case".

Luckily it doesn't involve me yet working in reservations, they are trying to get people to retire first. I hope it doesn't come down to my level, I like my job for once!!

Jason got an email from ASA and they are cutting down shedules and no more upgrades. So it looks like after the summer he will be on reserve again.

apparently, there's more to it than just the severence package... word is that, as is typically known, you cant go for unemployment if you take the voluntary package because essentially, you're quitting your job.....this isn't like a furlough, you don't get your job back. so you'd have to reapply. if you reapply for the job, you'd be asked to take a deal that only gives you $9.50 an hour and it seems that by getting the senior folks to retire, they're trying to bring in new people for LESS money...so that's why they're doing this.

i don't see why they don't just raise fares a bit like United is doing (even if it is transcon only right now)....

it's almost like they're forcing the seniors hand into retiring which if you ask me, isn't a nice way to play ball.

Goodness, It truly is unfortunate the way Corporate America has become. Like I said from the first post...you just never know what will happen next.

I heard this when it came out, pretty interesting, makes me think what's going to occur in the future with the new trainess of different companies across the board... ya know?
