Talking Vacation passes

Hey everyone..quick question!
Hoping somebody knows the answer to this one. I have been asking my df to try and figure out plans for our honeymoon as far as the flying goes. He has been extremely busy these past few weeks, so needless to say he hasnt been able to get it done. I however, am really anxious and excited to start planning it, but was curious if anyone knew how vacation passes work? We are trying to go to New Zealand, but dont want to fly standby since it is our honeymoon. He works for xjet if that helps at all. I am hoping to get some kind of confirmed seating at a discounted rate...anyone know of anything like this??

I agree with you. For a honeymoon, I wouldn't want to be flying standby. Imagine starting your life together sitting in an airport being bumped one flight after the next. Yikes! Buying the tickets is the best bet. As where to get them most cheaply, I don't know...

As far as I know, you can only get discounted "guaranteed seat" rates through your own airline...any others, you might want to try orbitz or expedia or something.

otherwise, it's all standby.

we're looking into doing our honeymoon as well and we're going to end up buying tickets... trying to play non-rev roulette is not exactly romantic! hehe

The vacation passes for xjet are still standby, it's just a higher priority than what you would normally be.

I've never even heard of vacation passes...are they the same as buddy passes?

nope, they're different. I think they're just for the pilot and his/her family. It basically puts you near the top of the non-rev listing so you have a better chance of getting where you are going.
