yeah, it's my understanding that it's based on whomever wants it, not seniority. i still have no idea what he'll do. boy's really good about thinking this type of stuff through, though, and i'm sure he will make the best decision. i just worry about this happening years down the road (i.e., marriage and babies). my income isn't bad but it isn't great right now. i can't support two or more people.

the economy sucks, and i'm getting sick of gas prices. i communite 25 miles to work and pay about 40 bucks in gas a week. we're contemplating moving closer to where i work, but it's so expensive up there that it's almost worth it to stay where we're at. at least i bought a kia and not a hummer. i see people driving those (and i'm sorry if anyone here has one), and i just laugh. then again, if you have the money to buy one you should have the money to afford the gas...right?

anyway, i'm keeping all our xjet boys in my thoughts. i hope things shape up well for everyone.

I might be reading this wrong, but this is what the company said will be awarded based upon operational needs and staffing
requirements in seniority order by domicile and status

So, I guess it would be the people wanting it, and if there are too many of them, it goes in order of senority. At least, that's how I interpret it. I don't know though; I am not a pilot, and I can interpret things differently than they actually are. I guess we will wait and see what happens.

My man was hired at xjet just this past fall...he is only a dozen or so from the bottom of the seniority list...needless to say the news of the COLA's brings extreme uneasy feeling to the both of us. I'm strapping on my helmet and hoping for the best.

i talked to boy who stated his understanding is that they will AWARD in seniority order. so, if you're #1 and want COLA you'd be the first person to get it. if you're at the very bottom of the seniority list you will get COLA if you want it and there's available space. does that make sense? that makes more sense to me, but his interpretation could be wrong too.

I think you are right, Felly. That is how my husband explained it. If your s.o. wants it, he might get it if the higher senority numbers don't claim them first. With the possibility of furlough even in distant thoughts, a lot of people might pass in order to save up money.
