hmmm...interesting...when I was little, I remember wanting to be a FA so I "could fly all over the world"...hahahaha...could you imagine though, if you got married you might not have a job?

My fiance's mom was a flight attendant. She worked w/ American for about 2 years before marrying her husband. She has some pretty interesting stories about all the stipulations and regulations. Despite all that though she really enjoyed her time in the skies.

Weighing in was discontinued in 1992???!!!!!

I know that I have heard hubby mention that all passangers have the same estimated weight (different for childern) and bags have the same estimated weight, wonder when these estimations where put into place and if it was at the same time when the flight attendent weight ins were discontinued? You know they never made passangers step on a scale before getting on a plane.

I feel so sorry for those past women. My high school best friend used to put her finger down her throat everytime she ate something. Her mom used to be a flight attendent before she got married and started a family. Wonder if the apple didn't fall too far from the tree??

The weight of F/A's and the weight of passengers are unrelated in the example you're using. The reason weights are estimated for pax is to calculate fuel, landing weights, etc... it's for safety. For instance, winter weights are usually 5 lbs heavier than summer weights. I think for XJT the weights are something like 185 lbs, summer weights are 180. The hope is that the weights all even out... you may have a woman who weighs 130 lbs and a guy that weighs 230 lbs, or a woman that weights 150 and a guy that weighs 210. A F/A's weight would be calculated the same as a regular pax for weight & balance purposes. Hope that made sense.
