| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Oh, and as for jump seating international, as far as I know it is permitted, at the CA's discretion ... maybe ... My honey's flight to Montreal for sim training was on a CRJ-900, the plane he's training on. He wanted to ride jump seat to see the plane in action from the cockpit (even if it is uncomfy). He was told jump seating is not permitted on international flights. He later asked his sim CA and was told otherwise. So ... I guess I don't really know. I'd like to know the answer, too! ![]() |

DAL has the S4 (buddy pass), S3 (spouse, parent, dependent), S3B (retirees), S2 (higher priority spouse, parent, dependent) and S1B (emergency). and i know there's some pass inbetween that are considered bonus for work done good/recommendation letter somewhere between S1B and S2.

Canada is considered international. If Republic is in the CASS system, then he can jumpseat on any other CASS airline (always at CA's discretion). I don't quite understand the CASS system myself or what it even stands for...maybe someone else can chip in on that information and let us know how it really works. I know quite a few people who have jumpseated on international flights, so it can be done...i'm not sure though if it can be done on codeshares or not. Travel Companion passes, from what i know, are not free trips..there's always a charge similar to buddy pass or what not and from what i do know, you cannot obtain ID-90's or ZED fares as that's reserved for employee, spouse, parents or dependents only. Figure a Travel Companion is very similar if not the same as buddy pass (friends and family fare).

| spotty, I didn't make the connection on your comment on international travel and going to Montreal, d'oh! I also got that jumpseating wasn't allowed on international flights..... but I guess its also at the CA's discretion? I guess we'll find out! Luckily I also have BUF nearby... checking airlinepilotcentral.com, Republic appears to be a CASS participant... Thanks for clearing that up ![]() |

| My hubby flies for Chautauqua. He just recently finished training in June. My spouse travel benefits didn't kick in until the last person in the class had done their checkride (the class was split in two between Houston and St Lewis and we had to wait on the St Lewis folks). As for what airlines you can fly on, that depends on his base and equipment and employer (Chautauqua benefits are different from Shuttle, different from Republic, even though they are all the same company). If he is at a base that cochairs with other airline on his equipment, you will get travel benefits (ie potentially he could be flying their planes). Base is very important when it comes to travel benefits. My hubby is based in Columbus on the 145, I have travel benefits with Delta (best $50 I ever spent), United, US Airways and (I think) Connentiantal. Everyone is always telling him that he should move base to St Lewis (because of the commute) but one factor in not moving is I won't have all the travel benefits that I do have. Chautauqua is in the CASS system. Hubby often catches a ride on Southwest (though I have no travel with them). He also uses the air freight companies too (oh so fun to go pick him up at the airport at one in the morning). My hubby found out most of these benefits at training. He had to contact the company (HR, travel, crew planning???) about a delay in getting them in the CASS system. He was out of training and trying to get to work and couldn't ride in the jumpseat. (He got several emails from other class members thanking him for staying on the company to get that going). The benefits take a bit of time to kick in. It is easier if he comes to visit you durning training. He will have a badge and can go ask the captian of almost any plane for a ride. If you want to go see him, you may have to buy a ticket. They are pretty busy at training. Training is a hard reality. A wake up call that he is going to be doing many things without you and what (and how) are you going to be doing without out him. If you can stand training, it only gets better. |

| Awesome, thanks for that. Yeah I figured he'd learn all this during training.... but I'm impatient, what can I say and all this info is really useful. He said he'd like for me to come see him and I was already planning on paying for it if I had to, no biggie there. My biggest concern that he was going to be busy, I didn't want to get in the way and all. As it stands we do many things without each other.... he lives on the west coast and I'm up here in toronto! When he goes to IND we'll actually have made a step up cause we'll at least be in the same timezone But I know I'll not be able to talk to him for days at a time when he goes. Its a mixed blessing, cause that will be right around the time I have midterms and then exams..... at least I'll have no other distractions ![]() |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | Not really....it didn't use to cost that much to go into Canada...just shows how low our dollar has really gotten again. ![]() it costs almost 50% more now to go overseas than a few years ago.
