DH got based there , so I might but flying out every weekend to see him (hope to at least) Skibum, its great ! Just prepare yourself to be the last seat on the bus and sometimes sleep overnight at the airport for an available flight. Coair is easy too, just get John's info from him and check out the available seats on the left side and the SB's on the right...pick the earliest flight of the day and go from there ![]() Gotta learn your airport codes Call me if you wanna fly somewhere...going to MN on the 8th to see some fall leaves

When i was a travel companion, i paid buddy pass fares and the taxes were tucked into that cost. -Airport codes, like Tara said, are a definite must know... -Understanding how the benefits actually work (going thru the employee handbook or what not) will be of benefit as well so you understand what's expected of you. -Understanding how to book your travel by computer and/or phone

When I got bumped from the Glasgow trip in June I quickly went online and rebooked travel to Phoenix. Coming home from PHX it was great since I could check loads and rebook if I needed to. It almost happened - I got the last seat on the plane! Hopefully my flight this weekend will go well. I got bumped up in priority since Nick is flying!

Hi Mcmuffin, This was the talk even before my husband left Xjet. When Express separated from CAL as it's own Company, it was no longer considered part of the parent Company (CAL) but now one of the feeders. Most legacy companies give their feeder airlines pass privileges but at a lower status. (Someone talked about this with Mesaba and NW earlier in the thread). When my DH came to CAL they actually allowed him his Express board date but then this was short-lived when he received a letter rescinding this benefit. (not a pleasant day in my household). Recently he talked with someone in the travel department at CAL that indicated that the rumor is valid and can happen by early next year. I don't know what that will entail. If I hear anything else, I will let you know. Sometimes these rumors are just propagated throughout the company and die out. Nadine

| Skibum, Before I non rev travel, I like to go out to nonrev.net (some peole like to use passrider instead) and print all the flights that are on my departure day and my arrival day between my cities and any alternate cities. I also have programed into my cell phone all the airline phone numbers and all of hubby's hire dates, user names, and passwords. My hubby flies for a regional and we have flight benefits on many different carriers. Having the information on hand makes me more confident and is wonderful to have when I actually get bumped. (Sometimes gate agents are no help at all.) One other suggestion, if you get bumped look down your list from nonrev.net and pick a flight at least an hour later than the flight you got bumped from. After a bump, you know you are going to be later. The hour gives you time to get on the phone and list, find the next gate, and go to the bathroom or whatever. For me a frantic run between gates, the airport speaker system interupting the auto system on the phone make me feel more hasseled than the sacrfice of an additional hour. Best of luck to you. | Emily, Don't forget too that as a travel companion, you can only non-rev on Continental, Continental Express, and Continental Micronesia. You can't fly on the Continental Connection carriers, other airlines, or codeshares. Also, avoid making initial reservations using the EPAss line when you have to speak to an actual person, you will be charged $10. I have never been able to get the automated line to work properly. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Jan, Do you know anything about the taxes that I was talking about? I know that you know a lot about how everything works. ![]() P.S. So travel companions aren't eligible for ID-90's, Zed fares, etc.? Only if you're married? |

| I have a question about non-reving as well. My SO is going for training on Oct 22nd for Republic (Chautauqua) and has said he's going to put me on as his travel companion. What airlines could I travel on? I'd most likely be flying out of YYZ, is Canada considered international? Also, do his benefits kick in after training or at the start? I'd like to go visit him during (if he has time of course!) and a free trip would be sweet. Also a question about jumpseating.... could he jumpseat on an international flight? Thanks! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Hi Petra, I posted earlier in this thread (#23) similar to your situation. i can non-rev! educate me... Canada is international. Travel bennies start as soon as he gets you listed as a travel partner and your name is in the system. This should happen w/n his first week of training. My honey did his sim training at Bombardier in Montreal. I flew there from California all non-rev. We haven't seen it yet, but suspect that the tax for the international portion of that flight (DTW-YUL and YUL-DTW) will be deducted from his paycheck. |
