Default Ever listen to ATC?

The JFK ground/tower feeds have been down for a while (i guess getting some type of overhaul or what not)...anyways, they're back up and i'm listening to ground as doug's currently number 20 for takeoff...

that airport is constantly busy...I don't think the ATC guy even gets to take a drink of water!

and some of the accents are pretty neat to hear too (yes, i'm a geek )

Yes, I love listening to the Mexican guys! They sound like Speedy Gonzales! Eppa, Eppa! Andale!

I do! and I"ll turn it up just to hear what they have to say...our flight school is based on KJQF (Concord Regional) and nowhere near busy like CLT (Charlotte Douglas)...our busy days are on Wednesday/Thursday, when we have all the Nascar teams head out to wherever they have to go...I'll also listen to it, when we have some nervous parents in our lobby waiting for their child, and when they do pop up on the radio their faces just light up...it's just pretty neat to hear what they have to say!

Do all pilots own an air radio or something?!

When Nick and I first met we used to go to Tempe Town Lake near Sky Harbor to watch airplanes and listen to the pilots! I've got the radio right here but I don't know how to work it!

I think so! That is what I was saying in one post long time ago. If I knoew Eric was taking the path above our house, I would track him and then try and grab a handle to say a quick hi! Yes, we truly are aviation dorks! My neighbors will see me with the boys saying hi to daddy and not see "daddy" anywhere in sight. When they ask, the boys just say, "up theyare" (Good 'ol Indiana has corrupted their speech! lol)

liveatc.net is where you'll find the most feeds.

I listened from JFK ground to JFK tower to NY Departure to Boston Center to Gander....Once they got to Gander, i couldn't listen anymore and since i don't know the ATC feeds overseas, that was about all i could do.

liveatc.net does have some international feeds but not all major airports and i hear the UK has a law against listening in on ATC in their country.

My boyfriend occasionally will pull up one mp3 that he is in and send it to me. They are pretty interesting and it is usually recommended that new pilots "do their homework" and listen to liveatc.net when first starting out to get the language down.
