Default Pass changes for XJT

I just saw that there will pass changes for XJT employees flying on CAL. They will now be SA5P's when flying on CAL and CAL employees have to buy ZED fares when flying on XJT. If I am reading this correctly, this only applies to those flying for the portion on XJT that is not affliated with CAL (the branded side I guess). Info can be found in sonic under GG PASS XE. This just came about 7/12/07. I'm not sure is anyone on here that has a spouse flying to the actual ExpressJet or if it is all XJT/Continental Express, but I thought I'd pass on the info.

I haven't, but Aaron is off on a trip right now. Right now he's slated to do the branded flying. I know Kimberly's husband is a CA on the branded side as well (same base). I think everyone else is CoEx, but I'm not sure. Suprisingly, I haven't seen anything about this come up on the crack-pipe yet. And I would have expected the B*(%^ing to start as soon as it was announced.

Part of me can't believe they would change up the flight benefits depending on which side (branded/CoEx) you were flying on, it's all the same airline. But at the same time I can see that CAL would only want to give preference to the pilots doing their flying. I think Delta wanted to do the same thing with the pilots who were doing the flying out of LAX.

I still haven't quite mastered Sonic yet. Make that, haven't attempted since my first try sometime last year!

I think that this is fairly typical, especially with other regionals (i.e. Chatauqua) that fly for a number of different carriers. I would guess that only the pilots doing the Delta flying would get pass travel bennies on DAL, not those who are based in EWR, IAH, ONT, etc. This was brought up a while ago with another regional, but I can't remember which one.

Once you are in sonic you just type GG PASS XE and the info comes up, then to move to the next page type G*. Keep doing that until you get to the end of data. It should also be able to be accessed via coair on interline agreements.

From the info on the pay pipe, it seems CAL wants to separate the employees that fly for branded/Delta from the employees that are XJT/Continental Express. I guess XJT management is not happy about this and is still working on having it the way it was somehow. But for the time being, the policy has been changed.

Bill sat in an XJT jumpseat today and the guys were telling him they are having problems getting the "branded" pilots to training because CAL is saying no to positive space???? Do the guys flying on the branded side have different IDs? Can you bid from the branded back to regular XJT/Continental Express? Just wondering how CAL knows who is who?

Thanks for the Sonic info! You are my go-to gal for all things online with coair.

I had heard mention on the pipe of people having problems with PS, but I was under the impression that it was everyone, not just branded. The few times I've heard of issues, it was for those getting home, not getting to training... so I think that it's mainly the gate agents at IAH with the issue and not the outstations. I don't know if they have different ID's or not. I'll ask Brian, but he's usually clueless as to what's going on. I'm the one that has to keep him in the loop!!

Here's what I know- Aaron is assigned to ONT, so he'll be doing the branded flying. But they only do IOE flights on the CoEx side, so he's been doing all CoEx flying right now. And they are sending him PS to where-ever he needs to report to (IAH, CLE, ERW) and back without any trouble. He's flown both CoEx and CAL on these trips (he still gets excited when he gets to fly first class...).

All of the ID's are the same for now. They issued it before he was assigned to a base so there was no way for it to be differentiated. I don't think that they will want to issue new ID's every time someone changes bases/ which side they are flying for. Plus, what if you are TDY'd somewhere for a month? Would you be able/not be able to fly CAL for that month only? How would they know? And what a headache for the people who have to update the system to reflect all the changes. Is CAL going to double check everyone that XJ SAYS is doing the branded? Sounds like this is going to get messy.

I wonder if CAL (not to imply that they are the bad guys in the situation this could be all XJ's doing, just thinking out loud here) is doing it a) as an incentive to keep XJ pilots bidding for doing the CoEx flying and thereby ensuring that their flights aren't canceled due to crew issues while the other two operations are left to sink or b) as a retaliation to XJ for branching out beyond just flying for CAL and potentially leaving CAL having to negotiate with other carriers for their CoEx flights b/c XJ doesn't specifically need EVERY CoEx flight to stay afloat.

Seems like it's just one big politics of management issue and it's the employee's who are going to suffer.

As of today, our pass class on CAL has not changed, and Tom is on the Delta side. So, who knows? XJT has one seniority list, not three, so it would be difficult for anyone to track where anyone is, unless they do it by perm bid standing. Of course that changes with the wind as well!

As far as the ID's go, everyone at XJT flies for XJT, so I can't see them re-badging everyone. Not only is it not practical, your employer doesn't change no matter what the paint job on the plane says. XJT operates under the same rules no matter for whom they are flying. There may be operatational preferences that differ, but the FOM's are the same across all brands.

Politics in airlines? Naw...
