My DH taught me to avoid negativity.... whether its people and/or energy. He is a very positive person and very RARELY says anything negative. It has rubbed off on me and I tend to find negative people VERY unpleasant to be around. I know you all know who I am talking about.

be flexible

sometimes shit just happens and you have to deal with it (see above)

say exactly what you mean, don't imply anything (ok that might be specific to our relationship...)

I don't!!!!

My DH started on this dream later in life, after already being sucessful in another career. He walked away from everything, money, friends, family, b/c this is what he wanted to do. We took a big step backward in our lifestyle and we are struggling were as our friends aren't. But this was is dream and he took a chance, a big one I'm not that strong. I rely on him for his courage, but I have learned that sometimes change is ok too, and to try and take more risks.

Wait a minute! Hardly any of this is pilot-related! These are lessons we could learn from ourselves or from anyone else who has followed any random dream. Who needs a pilot?

I want to read more pilot-specific lessons. Come on. Give 'em up.

Oh...pilot-specific lessons...The point at which the glide slope crosses the glideslope intercept altitude is called the final approach point and is represented as the final approach for the ILS. On the Jepp plates this is indicated with a heavy black line that starts down at the final approach point.

Another pilot-specific lesson...Many trees were harmed in making the thousands of "old" Jepp plates my husband is continually throwing away.

Hrm... how about... if you want a lot of flight hours and not much vacation time... go with Mesa?

Also, you never know who will be on your plane... it could be the chief pilots... both of them... so fly with confidence, even if you're not totally sure of yourself!

If he can learn to fly an EMB in 7 weeks of ground school, it shouldn't take him more than 7 weeks to figure out the washing machine and dryer either. So he can't use that excuse anymore.

When you are at an airport, the pilot probaby doesn't know where the gate you are looking for is either, so don't bother asking him.

In this industry you MUST learn to roll with it- Roll with every new change that comes your way and celebrate when you have come through successful.
There are far too many things in this crazy and chaotic industry that you just simply cannot control- Roll with it.

So true!
