| Oi... SO said they might be shutting down the ATL base for ERJs and shipping nearly everyone to Cincinnati or JFK... that makes NO sense to me whatsoever, economically!! Anyone else heard this? |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | you'd be surprised at just how often that happens! I knew a lady who decided it was best to move family and all to base with her husband. As soon as she did, they found out they were closing the base and he was moving to a base somewhere far away from the state they were in...and they had just bought the house. things that like stink when your flying regional.. which is why it's typically not best to "chase metal" (as we call it) when your just starting out. Esp in the regionals, their bases pick up and move quite a bit whereas the major airline bases stay where they're at for a much longer period of time.

| Yeah, I was expecting some sort of move... but just a couple of weeks into it seems pretty soon to me! Oh well... guess that's just Mesa. |

| And remember it was worse than that. I told her the base was closing. They said, "WHAT????" asked the airline and were reassured that nothing of the sort was happening. So they went to settlement on the new house. One week later, guess what the airline announced? The base was closing! And it happens even at the majors. Witness all the US Airways employees in PIT. | Admin/Owner ![]() | yea, i do remember that! that was traumatic, even for me knowing the problems they were gonna have. I think major's at least have more *time* to get situated than regionals... at least, that's been my perception so far considering how fast they ask everyone to move. I totally didn't expect USAirways to move from PIT to PHX, that was bizarre...we do hear they might be leaving and going back to PIT tho. gotta love those rumots! ![]()

| They are building a new Operations Control Center, for lack of what else to call it, in PIT. Right now they still ahve all of their dispatch/ scheduling stuff still separate, the HP side does their stuff and the US side does their own stuff. I think there is a 3-5 year time frame for the building to be ready. Wonder how many people from HP will just retire or leave instead of moving to PIT! I think they did move some of the managment type stuff to PHX though. From what I hear from Bill's cousin, the place is pretty much just a complete mess and once they have senior US FOs flying with HP captains with way less seniority, it will only get worse! Not too much "love" over there! |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | they moved corporate to PHX...but from what i hear, like Jan said, they're moving all the operations back to PIT (out of PHX). Actually, i hear there's nothing but BAD love between the US and HP pilots...doug jumpseated on them last week and the two pilots in there said "this is an HP cockpit, don't talk about the US side in here" or something to that effect... it was really weird to hear that.
