Well by using birthdates the oldest in the class has a higher seniority number than one of the youngest. Not quite as random as four digits of a SSN.

Like I said, I just thought it was interesting.

Yikes- that is REALLY interersting, a SSN varies by which state you were born in. I'm floored, I just find that really interesting.

I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear on that. They look at the last 4 digits of your social. So someone with 1234 would be higher than someone with 6789. Much more random than by the state code which is the first three.

In terms of them being non-union, yup I guess that lets them make up their own policies.

Oh! I was thinking just the birthday, so it would just be like Mr. January is first, etc. lol. Doing it by birth year makes sense, it's only fair that the oldest in the class be higher up since they have less time to retirement, I like that method better, seeing as my dh is old lol.

At DH's old airline (which was unionized), it was also the last 4 digits of your SSN...for both Pilots and FA (I was pretty much last in my class ).

the senority with the SS number is only with the group that you start with, overall its with your hire date, but for those who all start at the same time, they have to give them rank somehow, ss number is as random as any i guess.

Jackie where is your husband based?...mine flies the brazilla too.
just as a side note, we got move to SLC within a month of bidding for it, but things change so quick, like it was said before you can't count on it, but it seems right now that skywest is moving people to where they want to be.

Every airline is different. I just found that seniority ranking rather interesting!

I was just thinking that I would be golden if I did- my last four start with a 0.

Or maybe that would put me at the end.

Hey there! Jarred is based out of Palm Springs, CA for the next month, but then starts training for the Jet in August and moving to Denver! We are thrilled. It's going to make a huge difference for us in a lot of ways. He has loved flying the 'bro as he calls it but we need the better pay, better schedule and bases west of Denver as we live in Tulsa, OK and all our family is on the East Coast.

He did pick up a trip last month from SLC to Picatello, ID (I notice you live in ID) and loved it! For two days he just flew back and forth. We're pretty small town oriented and he was loving how pretty much everyone on the flights seemed to know each other and how nice everyone was in Picatello. He said he and his captain found a place that was like a bowling alley only with horseshoes and that one time when they landed the gate agent directed him around back to the grill with burgers and hot dogs to cook up! He really enjoyed that trip!

I love your signature. It's funny how these boys just get under your skin, huh? My 27 month old looked at me last night as I was putting him to bed and said, "wait Momma, huggles!". So sweet. Then of course there are the times that they dribble pancake syrup on the living room carpet and you want to live far, far away!
