my DH is on his last leg of ground school, and has been in three different hotels, all have been different in terms of *kitchen* space, so I would stick to the not ref/heatalbe things unless you know for sure that he will have a ref and microwave. L just went shopping when he got there. but I sent along some hersey hugs and kisses, so he would think of us and he loves sweets. Also don't forget to pack a photo for him and I sent a drawing of an airplane that our son did. Good luck girl ground school SUCKS!

Hi! I just did something similar for my BF in training... I ended up packing a lot of junk food, but also some healthier things like Kashi crackers and granola bars. In hindsight, things like almonds or Zone bars would have been good to include as well.... I hope that helps!

Do a search on the board (go to the tool bar at the top)- we had this topic come up recently and a lot of great ideas were suggested.

I sent Nick snacks that he likes that are 'somewhat' healthy since food can be expensive and hard to find sometimes. I sent bags of nuts (almonds, cashews, macademias) from Trader Joe's along with beef jerky, chocolate and other snacks. I also included some empty zip lock bags so he can take his snacks with him.

I've also sent school supplies- index cards, highlighters, his favorite pencils/pens. I threw in some romantic things too. Have fun making the care package- I did!

Food-wise, I included lots of power bar type things and then, at the start of the last week, I sent one of those online fruit/cheese baskets from Gifttree.com (to make sure he got some healthy stuff!) and he just loved that! Non food-wise, I sent a bunch of balloons at the beginning to wish him luck, sent him cards every few days with photos, stories from the newspaper that I thought he'd like etc, just so he could spend a couple of minutes not obsessing about the workings of the Airbus!
Horrible time though, take care of yourself too!

Don't feel bad, I never sent anything! He came home too much to worry about it! Plus he took whatever he wanted back with him every time!

I know it's bad, but I sent my boyfriend lots of junk food. I made him homemade peanut butter chocolate chip cookie bars, I packed some of his favorite DVDs just in case he gets bored over the weekend, added a few pictures of me and him, and I bought some candy from the store. Just to add something a little more healthy I put a pack of Nature Valley assorted bars. I just sent it yesterday so it should be in tomorrow. I hope he likes it!
