Got our base assignment!

Aaron got a call from Crew Services today, he's been assigned to Ontario, CA. It was a given, of course, that since we live on the extreme east coast that he would be assigned to a base on the extreme west coast. No word on when he starts yet though. That's Crew Scheduling's job...

Luckily Delta's got a new LAX-JAX flight that he'll be able to commute on. Or there are several less direct ways to get there...

For now we are staying put in Jax until we hear some finality on the rampant rumor that there may be an east coast crew base by the end of the year (possibly even in Jax...). I'm not going to be happy if we move away and then 4 months later they open a base here. Although it would be nice to move back to the west coast again, we can't afford our QOL here on his first few years FO salaries if we live out there.

oh goodness..i feel for you...we were supposed to get Ontario, and we live here in NC...(thats if we stuck with XJT)...

Congrats on a base assignment! Sorry it is going to be a long commute for DH though....but YAY for him having a place to stay there!

As far as an east coast base, we are not holding our breath. We were really hoping for one (DH hates being in EWR.....it is so hard to get to work-he has had to drive from NH 3x in the past 2 months and the lines are getting worse and worse) but DH is not opptomistic on that happening. But you never know.....

Maybe they will end up flying together one day...

The good points about ONT are that he'll hold a line quicker, there's a potential for overnights in Jax since they fly here and he's got a free crashpad with a friend who lives there. We aren't holding our breath about the east coast base, but we keep hearing some persistant rumblings from people at the training center. I know how rumors are though, so we aren't going to wait around for it to happen forever.

It's funny, a year ago we would have jumped at the chance to move west again. But now that we are settled in Jax, the thought of leaving is less appealing...

Being able to hold a line quicker is a really good reason to be based in ONT! That will be huge.....
