Republic is hiring "like mad" according to my boyfriend. And their upgrade right now is about a year and a half. My boyfriend started his class March 19 and already has over 100 people below him in seniority!

The first year pay suuuucks... but, it is probably a better deal than some other airlines out there. I won't mention names.. hehe

I'm trying to convince dh to look into republic when he starts applying. He really wants the crj though, so I don't know if he will risk it since they have erj and crj. We will see though! Where is he based? Which plane did he get? It seems like a good place to work from what I have heard, and I like some of the bases! (cvg and sdf or even ind would be good!) There are SO many bases though, that worries me too. We have a little while, and EVERYTHING can change so we will wait and see!

He doesn't know where he is based but he has been training on the embraer 170. They also have bases in Denver, DC, and Pittsburg.

So the different planes have the different bases? I think I did hear the crj has bases in houston and louisville and some other texas city. I would love cvg, too, but i assume that one is some kind of erj, too.

I like Republic since they have good upgrade times, too. There is a guy on the pilot career coach forums for ATP that is a 3rd year captain. I can handle 3 years! Better than 5! (comair) Does he like the QOL there, or has he really experienced it yet?

Sorry about all of the questions, I like to be well informed

ha, it is no problem!

but.. what is a QOL? lol

EDIT: Ah... do you mean quality of life? Well he has been off for two and a half weeks and on Thursday, he is going back to STL for Sim. So he hasn't started on a line yet. But my boyfriend says he will only have to do reserve for maybe one month. They are hiring so much that his seniority there is going up every week.

Wow, that's really cool that he gets a couple weeks off before sim. D got no more than 2 days off in a row the entire ground school/sim/IOE/etc process, and he wasn't able to use flight benefits until the whole thing was almost over. I didn't get to see him from the time he started ground school until just before his first IOE flight. It was a pain.

wow, that must've been really hard and took a lot of strength!!!

I do feel very fortunate for this time. It's only because they have so many new pilots and it's hard to find Sim time for everyone.

Wow I hope dh can get in during this hiring spree so he can get a paid vacation! Haha When do they call? Like a day before they want you to be there, or do they give you decent notice, like a week or something? With the way airlines are, I'm assuming its one day or less. Oh well, still a paid vacation!
