Default questions from a pilot-to-be!

My name is Alex, and I am turning 17 in 1 month. I stumbled upon your website, and it really sparked my interest in wanting to be a commercial airline pilot,. I plan on applying to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, which I believe I will be accepted to.....My grades are above their standards for admission. I just had my first lesson yesterday. There seems to be a LOT of information that needs to be learned and it sort of scared me away a little bit. I dont know if I can learn it all. Was anyone in the same boat when you first started? Should I be scared away like this? And also what are your thoughts on Embry-Riddle? Is their program the best way to go on your way to becoming an airline pilot? And anyyy input you have on what it takes to becoming and airline pilot and the proper route to take would be greatlyyyyyyyyyyyyy appreciated. Thank you so much.

The main jetcareers page has all sorts of articles with information about the life & job of an airline pilot. You can read about what a typical day is like for a pilot, and also what sorts of training & experience is necessary. The jetcareers forums are a great place to chat with other pilots & pilots-to-be about everything from first lessons to what kind of headset to get & anything else. Don't be shy, register, read & post away!

Everyone (okay, mostly everyone) over there is really cool, and you'll find a lot of other folks in the same situation as you.

Yup.. he did... out in Prescott...

his words "a lot of money for the a degree he'll never use".. cuz he got his degree in aviation science in which he realizes now that he should have gotten a degree in something he'd use as a second career...

he says there's no way he'd pay for ERAU at the cost they are now...
