Flight attendants can fly through their second trimester. No flying in the 3rd.

There are pg F/As out there flying Often, especially if it's a first baby, they may not show very much. AA's uniform dresses are so baggy, often they could be worn til maternity leave! They do make maternity uniforms, though the joke was that if you want to actually HAVE your maternity uniform, you'd better order it as soon as you start TTC, so that the backorder delay will actually get the uniform to you by the time you're big enough to need it!

Also, lots of people really don't feel so well that first trimester, so a lot of people use some sick time then. It sucks to try to fly while feeling nasty to begin with.

I have to add to this because I flew til I was 30 some weeks pregnant. It was okay per the doctor and the company, CHQ at the time were really giving me a hard time when to stop flying. It was very crazy. Still to this day there are many women at the comp that fly that long and the FAA hasn't said anything, soI really think it depends on the person too.

Thank you so much for asking the question. It's a great one to know. I had a c-section with my 1st baby so I know the second will be the same but this time scheduled. So we will be looking for all the time possible and using up our family's help. (smiles)

OMG there's no WAY I would have flown to 30 weeks! How were you able to keep up and be on your feet that long?!

I think the 3rd trimester thing was an AMR rule. At Eagle and AA we couldn't fly into the 3rd trimester, but I was unable to find any FARs related to it.

It was awful. One morning the flight was delayed an hour and a half because my feet were so swollen I couldn't put my shoes on! And the captain was so nice too, he told sched to go fly a kite, we weren't going anywhere til I was able to. I remember the pax being so nice to me.
I was so hot almost all the time I would wear that cooling device thing from the Sharper Image around my neck. I swear it looked like I was wearing a dog collar or something.
