| Comair gets OK to void flight attendants' contract Fri Jul 21, 2006 1:17pm ET ![]() CHICAGO, July 21 (Reuters) - Comair, a unit of Delta Air Lines Inc. (DALRQ.PK: Quote, Profile, Research), on Friday won court permission to void a contract with its flight attendants and impose terms enabling the airline to reach a cost savings target, court documents showed. Bankruptcy Judge Adlai Hardin said in a written opinion that the flight attendants, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, have not demonstrated "good cause" for rejecting a previous contract proposal. The regional carrier had been in contract negotiations with the Teamsters for months. Hardin denied an earlier request by Comair for permission to void the contract. Comair, which employs about 1,000 flight attendants, has reached agreements with its pilots and maintenance workers. Those deals, however, are contingent on the airline winning labor savings from all its unionized workers. Comair had asked its flight attendants for concessions worth $8.9 million as part of its planned $42 million cost-cutting program. The flight attendants have authorized union leaders to call a strike if the airline voids their contract.
