| It was on Fox news yesterday. Apparently one of the crew, not sure if it was the Captain, FO or both were getting line checked so there was a check airman in the cockpit as well when the Captain passed away. (Don't know if that part was on the news or not, but they probably would have screwed it up anyway)I can't imagine how traumatic it must have been for the other two pilots too. A few months ago, the senior pilot at XJT died of a heart attack right before going through security. I believe he was doing IOE with a new hire. |

| Actually, it was his first flight as a captain. He had ben a 777 FO for quite awhile and upgraded to captain on the 757. He was only 58 and left behind a wife and 2 teenage sons. He lived in the FLL area. I guess when his body was flown from IAH-FLL they had around 20 pilots or so on the ramp along with his family. They also had the firetrucks do that thing when the plane taxiied off the ramp. They recently did the same for another pilot that was based in EWR that died and was transported to another city for burial. I think they used to do that kinda stuff years ago, then stopped. I think it's nice that the union and the company can do those kinds of things to honor their memory. I'm sure the families really appreciate it. |
