Default Virgin America

So, any thoughts on Virgin America coming into the states and flying as a major airline competition? sounds to me like their pay isn't going to be "major" in scale.

I hope that it does not happen. I thought they were having problems? The last thing the industry needs is more capacity and more low paying jobs! Just my opinion.

I agree, Jan. I also read they have not been approved yet.

no, they haven't been approved...so they're going out to the public by opening up a myspace account and asking for people to sign a petition...

I don't have the link on me, but it's out there...we're asking everyone to steer clear of it cuz it's not something that would be beneficial for *our* lives (as aviation families).

Well, why don't we protest the account and have myspace close it down?

I'm not really sure if I have an opinion about them. DH would have applied if he qualified, but at the same time, it was too much of a risk. Independence was a great idea and awesome while it lasted, but as everyone know's it didn't work out which is so sad (DH was so happy at ACA/Independence). He didn't want to be in the same boat again. There are a bunch of people he know's at Virgin America both in Inflight and pilots/Check Airmen. But when it comes down to it, we don't want to see them come in and hurt the industry and/or jobs.

it seems to me that even tho the planes would be flown by american pilots, they would still be paid lower than most american companies similar to them (which obviously isn't good for jobs or salaries)... but i think an even bigger concern is that it allows companies to get closer to bypassing the cabotage laws.

Well, we all have the option to write to our senators and representatives. You can also submit comments regarding the application. The docket is: http://dms.dot.gov/search/document.c...docketid=23307

Just hit the comments/submissions button and comment away!

There are already 30 pages of the canned letter from the VA website!

My space has a generic person that all information can be sent to...if my friend is correct. I don't have a my space, but she says that all people that have myspace have the guy as a friend...
