Default Help! airline question

Been really crazy here the last year. DH has been in and out of jobs in the corp world for the last year. Airplanes sold too many pilots and airlplanes that never arrived to be flown.

He got the call today for an interview with World Airways. How does a family at home cope with 18 day schedules? I know that it won't be forever, but you have to get to the senoirity number and then bid the better schedules.

Anyone with kids, how does the seperation function with them. Mine are 14, 12, 11, 7, 6, 4. First 4 girls last 2 boys. The oldest in having health problems right now to add to it all.

Other than schedules are there any other up or downs to corp vs this type flying?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Criss,
My DH has 18 days on at his new job as well. It's hard, but we manage. I'm usually ready to pull my hair out just in time for him to get home. I don't know about the corp lifestyle so it's hard for me to compare, I can only tell you how it's been for me with the 18 day thing. And I only have one child so far, so i'm not sure about more than one.

Actually i've been nervous about trying for another one cause i'm not sure I can do it with him being gone so much. I'd love to have more kids though and i'm sure we will.

<Edited cause I had World Airways confused with Planet...>

Good luck, and i'm sure you'll do just fine. It'll take time to adjust though. Do you have family around who can help for a while?

Tanya, thanks for replying. We ended up deciding not to take the offer.

Our 14 yr old daughter has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and there is thickening in the left ventricle. The Children's hospital doesn't know what is going on and a very dear friend lost a son at 16yr after a blood clot burst in his brain 2yr ago. The only thing they could find wrong during the autopsy was the same problem in his heart. He couldn't think of being on the other side of the world and something happen to her.

Brownie points for husband and dad, we will just have to wait for another opportunity to ugrade the job status.
