Drama Drama...Furlough!

Ok, so we got the word late last year that DH would be furloughed 1/10. We were prepared. We made out a list of things to do during him time off (aka unemployement)(even tho we had NO money to do these things...). We got a call 1/9 that someone had taken a voluntary furlough and he could keep his job if he had no other offer. Well, heck yeah! Jump on it! (Even tho, he does have his app in EVERYfrickin'WHERE!

) They advised that a potential furlough would be coming in the Spring. And here it is. 4/30. DH will be out of a job! Although we don't want him to be out of a job, we were emotionally set. We were ready to move on from ATA. We were and still areappreciative of a slight reprieve but the bitter sweetness of it all can be tough!

The ups and downs of this industry are so unforgiving!

I feel so bad for DH! At 40 y/o, he'll be starting over. Something NO ONE wants to do! The boys and I are hangin' in there for him. I just wish I could wave my magic wand and make it better!

He's got his app in everywhere and updates every two weeks or so. He's networking his rear off. The phone's just not ringin'!

Please send happy thoughts our way! He's gettin' pretty bummed!

Wish us luck over the next several weeks!

Gosh i'm sorry Stacey. That really sucks!

This industry is brutal! I hope he gets a call soon for an even better job!

Having gotten the 'F' bomb myself (twice) I can only say you and he have my sympathies.

Keep putting out those apps. Something will come along!

That sucks...Mens egos are so fragile and tied up with their work.
I really feel for my man - the airline he was with for 10 years went under and in his late 30's he was at the bottom of the list again. 3 years in and he is still only 200 from the bottom of a list of over 2,500.

I am so sorry. I imagine it is hard to be positive and supportive, when you probably have fears yourself as to what will happen. Furlough is my number one fear in this industry. Sending good thoughts your way, that your phone will ring today!!

Thanks for the support! DH is really pushing Air Tran right now. Even though it's not his first choice over all (they left a bitter sweet taste in ATA's mouth w/ their initial partnering deal), he knows several guys there and it would work out commutewise w/ where we want to live.
