She says that she never sees him and when he is home, hes on call,,,,, I dont know what one could like about that. There is a difference between corporate and charter. Corporate is working for a particular corporation. Sometimes the flight departments are big enough that the pilots will have a schedule. My husband's job is corporate. They operate 2 airplanes with 4 pilots. My DH is the flight department manager. He doesn't know from day to day where he is going or even at what time. He is really at the mercy of the owner and where he wants to be. In the early years he had much more notice before he flew because the owner had kids who he tried to stay involved with. But know that the kids are grown, I think he just tries to think of the next new place to go. We are allowed to take an airline and meet them on trips, but because his boss always changes his mind, it is hard to commit to going. The only benefit I see right now to his corporate job is the fact that we get to keep his american express points, and all of the airplane expenses are put on an american express. Other than that, at least at this point, the airlines and having a schedule and travel benefits seems really great...I suppose the grass is always greener on the other side! I can say that I enjoy corporate more than when my husband was a charter pilot. We got many calls in the wee hours of the night to go fly in the next hour, and days off were really never days off because he was always on the pager.

I am not certain about everything yet, as we are just starting. I don't have specific flight benefits, per se, but depending on the trip, wives are allowed to tag along on occaision.
What I am excited about is he gets vision, dental, health, retirement, etc. They also plan trips with a 5 day lead time so I will know what nights he is not going to be home.
They have 3 pilots, and obviously he is low man on the totem pole. The boss is extremely nice. We have been to his house for the company picnic, so I was able to meet the people he is working with. He also has a ranch out of state that he takes the employees to for some fun times. They ride atvs, shoot guns, and in general burn off soem testosterone. Theyalso went up to Osh Kosh for 2 days. All in all DH is very excited.
