Thumbs up Yay! SkyWest!

Zach (my boyfriend) interviewed with SkyWest last Friday and was offered the job that same day! I think he'll be flying the CRJ, which means that the worst base (as in farthest away) would be Chicago, while the best base would be Tucson. We're both really excited about this!

Zach has been flying for American Eagle for the past 6 months, with 5 of those 6 in Puerto Rico and the last month in Miami. Let me tell you, I was so disappointed last fall when we found out that he would be based in Puerto Rico! I had already accepted a great job offer in Tucson, so I couldn't just pick up and follow him there.

Of course he now has to go through training again and start out at the bottom of the seniority list, but we both feel it is a good move. Part of the reason for the move to another airline is of course to try to get closer to me (yay! ), but he also really likes the company and the bases. He was originally hoping to get hired by SkyWest last fall, but they weren't hiring at the time.

So, anyway, I'm happy and proud of my pilot.

Fabulous. Plus, he should upgrade faster than the current ~12 year wait at Eagle! YAY!

All of Eric's friends and former Sierra CFIs are at SkyWest. He's pretty sure he'll end up there.

They have a base in Tucson???? That's cool. We could live with MY parents instead of HIS if we did that. Hmmmmmm

Thanks, all! Yes, upgrade times are another good reason to make the switch. Of course one never knows what's going to happen in this industry, but Eagle sure isn't looking too pretty right now.

Yeah, Zach has a lot of friends (former coworkers and instructors) at SkyWest. It seems to be a popular airline for California based CFIs - Zach did most of his training and was a flight instructor in Sacramento. I seem to recall that he actually considered Sierra when he was looking at flight schools.

Yup, SkyWest has a CRJ base in Tucson! Look at http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/a...c/skywest.html for their bases.
