I got my diagnosis...

I went to the neurologist last week. The resuls of the spinal tap confirm the diagnosis of MS. And yes, it does suck!!!

Amanda - that totally sucks! One of DH's good friends was just diagnosed with MS earlier this year (in the summer) she's 28. If you like I can put you in touch with her. She might be able to provide you with some help and support since she has just gone through what you're going through

Im sorry you are not feeling well. I have not read back and seen what your symptoms and all were. I hate to ask, because it is so controvercial, but have you seen a Lyme and Associated Disease MD or DO ?

I'm sorry to hear about your illness, I missed most of your posts on the other thread (that I just read). One of my friends is going through the same sort of tests, they thought she had Lyme disease, then Lupus, now they are pretty sure it is Rheumatoid Arthritis.

You are in my thoughts.

Diagnosing MS : National MS Society

Regarding this particular page... Please read between the lines and see that they MUST rule out pathogenes such as Lyme, and other tick borne diseases.

Sorry to muddy the picture. My Dad was diagnosed with ALS/ Lou Gherigs Disease 6 years ago. That was 6 years after he was diagnosed with Lyme disease. He had a full blown BULLS EYE rash and tested possitive. Was on only a 30 week antibiotic course, and they did no further blood work...sick.

If your bloodwork for Lyme disease was not done here... I personally would not rely on it.

Anyway, along the way i took all sorts of notes, names, etc etc .

YOU MUST be your own advocate. Get a journal, make notes of EVERYTHING. Take your temp /weight/pulse/bloodpressure and record everything you take in and everything that comes out. Make notes of all questions for your Doctors. Note you daily aches and pains. Note good days vs bad days... any dietary or excerse help or hinder your state.

Each medicine you are given ask what it is for... Be sure they have baseline bloodwork to test later to see if the meds worked... they dont always think to do this.

Get copies of Prescription Drug inserts. Watch for all side effects. note changes.

Get copies of all SCANS/ Bloodwork/ everything. You need to wait about 24 hours in order to have the writen reports included for MRI/CT or whatever else they do.

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS... Compare what a DO would do for you vs a MD.... just go talk to one with your concerns. They have the same medical school but have a more holistic approach to treatments. IMO
