He was supposed to start a trip today, had to call off, chief pilot immediately called back, and what did the chief pilot say? Are you sure you can't work your trip? Send me a note from the doctor, get better.
Poor hubby can't even get off the couch or bed. His chills are so bad. What really stinks is that I am NOW getting it! UGHHH Who's gonna take care of me when I get it?
Just plan on the cough lasting 2+ weeks. It will get better but takes time. I hope that he got cough med from the DR too.
Fluids, fluids, fluids and try and control the temp. Give him 48-72 hours of being on the meds before he feels any better.
Speedy recovery,
D

D/H is starting to have symptoms today. The Dr called in something called tamaflu ? or something that helps to lesson however after 48 hours it's too late. No idea but he started it today. He will be home tomorrow. I had 3 days of fever and aches it finaly broke today. I have a terrible sinus headache . Musinex is really helping along with plain old asprin. Ibprofin & tylanol did very little for me..the cough sucks... Also emergen-c powder ...wow what a help!!!!!Joy

And what do you say to your co pilot when work gives you grief for calling in? I just don't understand how a company can be so selfish and want their pilots to go fly an airplane while being sick!

question is....how long are people contagious before and after they have the flu?

Doug and I have a meet and greet to go to with max (JC guy) and he had the flu last weekend. so if he's still contagious, i really don't want to go.

Hmm, good question Kristie. I'm curious to know since we have a 6 yr, 5 yr and 3 month old. And I think I'm getting it too.
Eric is taking tamaflu and zithromax, then tylenol and motrin to keep the fever down. He's using his inhaler for breathing, but it isn't doing much good. He has one of those breathing scale things where it is supposed to be somewhere above 250, but he can't get anywhere near 175 or so. I really hope we don't have to go to the hospital.

I have a question. Did your chest feel kind of tight? Mine does. My ears have been bothering me a bit too. Of course whenever I get super fatigued I feel sick. I have a cough, not a bad one, just a littl eannoying one on and off.
So, how many days has it been since you first got it? Are you feeling any sort of relief?

Good question. Probably 7-10 days from the time you start with symptoms and probably several days before you got sick. Certainly if you have a fever but think about it, as long as you are coughing you can be spreading the germs....

These are the guys we really worry about, he has asthma so it is going to hit him especially hard and pneumonia is a real possibility for him. If he isn't better in 48 hrs after starting the ABX or if his fever doesn't go down or his breathing is worse, he needs to be reseen. Do you have an SVN machine at home? Just curious how bad he has asthma?

Dana, He has an inhaler because of his allergies. They've really taken a toll on him. I just had him breathe into that thing and he is at 250 but then starts coughing up a lung!

I'm also concerned with the children.
William has a fever today of 100.3, age 5. Eric Tomas, age 6 has a mild fever of 99.6. Victoria nothing. She appears to be fine, but what can I do so that she doesn't get anything. Should I get rid of her and send her to my in laws? I had a mild fever as well, but it is gone right now. Help!

It wouldn't hurt to send her off. Unfortunately, she has probably already been exposed but if she stays and the more family members that get it the higher the likely hood she will too. Do you nurse her? If so, her immunity should be higher... how old is she? Keep in mind also, if she does get ill, so will your IL's, likely. Are they healthy?

Likely the kids will get it also. hopefully, they don't have asthma also. It
won't be fun!

Good handwashing and just hugs for a little while.
