Default Fainting during exercise?

Dana,

One of my friends talked me into taking a body sculpting class today. It has been so long since I did any type of exercise besides walking. I have dislocated both of my kneecaps on several different occasions so I am very cautious about what I can do.This wasn't really that strenuous, but all of a sudden I got really dizzy and sweaty so I sat down. After I sat down, it got worse, everything looked white, people's voices sounded garbled, and I felt like I couldn't talk. Someone gave me a sugar pill and a Powerade. After about 15 minutes I felt better and finished the class with no problem. The trainer said it was low blood sugar and I needed to eat more before I came next time and to eat protein. I have never had a problem like this and was wondering if it sounds like low blood sugar? I just had toast for breakfast about 1 1/2 hours earlier and it was about 30 minutes into the class when this happened. I had drank about a third of a bottle of water at that point. Anytipes on what to eat before exercising? Thanks.
