You know, that is a very good question. One that I will bring up with the Gardasil rep. I know that it will protect you against exposure for the future but what if you have already been exposed in the past by past sexual partners?? HPV may not show up for years after your exposure. What we tell women/girls is, even if you have had one form of HPV and either cleared it on your own or you were treated for it, the immunization will protect you against the other 3 high risk strains of HPV.

I suppose there are two schools of thought with this....(1) you are married and will never get divorced, your husband will never die and no one will be unfaithful..... or (2) you get the shot while you are in age range and not have to be as concerned about it down the line..... decision you yourself will have to make.

There are no promises, like with any vaccine, that they may later discover a problem with it. However it has been in Europe for years..... again personal decision....my daughter got it.

Major props to the nurse who gave me the shots. She did them in my upper hip so I couldn't see what was going on and also couldn't tense the muscle there. Barely felt it - she said she used to work in pediatrics so she's developed a good technique. Since Gardasil is a series of 3, you can bet I'll be going back to her for the next two - and any other vaccines i'll ever need!
Glad you had a good experience..... just the way it should be!

note on the gardasil - i feel like i have a HUGE bruise in my back from the injection site! Nothing to be seen, but it's very tender to touch, which is weird cause the tetanus site is fine... go figure!

ok, so i'm starting to think that the nurse mixed up the vaccines in her pocket because it's gotten worse through out the day. it was just tender to touch, now it's just sore all the time and i'm super cranky/tired. I told John that if this is the Gardasil causing all the pain, there's no way i'm going to get the rest of the series! Can I get some immunity just from one vaccine?

I am almost 99.9999999999999999% sure she mixed them up. I have not had one complaint from anyone about the gardasil. Tetanus is notorious for being painful for 2-3 days after you get it...

No, one injection won't give you coverage... better than nothing but not full coverage. Take some Motrin or Tylenol, that will help the discomfort...
