Default Boyfriend and traveling Q's

I've been dating my boyfriend for a fairly long time now. Enough that he's put me on as his "companion" so I can fly with him whenever he gets a good trip. We decide what trips would be best for me to fly on and he generally gets VERY excited up until the day before/of and I just don't understand why the change in attitude.

What happens is that we'll get to the day of travel and he'll start complaining on how he has to check to see if I can ride the crew van, and make sure I'll be able to get to the hotel ok and then he feels that he has to check flight loads and figure out what to do with his/our time while waiting for connecting flights and so forth. Making it seem as though I'm being a pain in the rump just for coming with him or meeting him on his layover.

I guess part of me doesn't understand why he doesn't look up this information ahead of time and why wait till the last minute and then berate me for time spent on looking up all these details.

Now, I do take care of myself quite well when I travel. I'm old enough to know better and I'm independent, I keep track of flight loads all on my own and get myself to where I need to go, especially when I know he has to work. I usually tell him not to worry about it simply because I know I can take care of myself but he still goes through this same rigamaroll.

so, why does he make me feel as though I'm invading his space, making his job harder, by coming or meeting him on his layover when he was all excited about it before? I shouldn't have to feel as though I'm in the way.

What's the deal? Do I need to start changing things on my end or does he? Why does he have to make me feel conscious of the fact that I'm tagging along? He constantly reminds me that "I'll be working you know". It's supposed to be a fun event, make his layover seem less like a layover and it makes me feel bad as if I'm only causing trouble on his end and taking away his "fun time" or layover "free time away from the GF" when he was the one that wanted me to come with him in the first place.

I just don't get it.

Thanks for the insight!
