We're flying some staff down this morning--to arrive in Orlando, and try to secure some supplies. We are told that things are in short supply there too since the need has been so great. There is a 7 PM curfew since there is no power and, thus, no traffic lights. So we have to get gasoline, batteries, etc to them today. They all ran out of gasoline yesterday. That means no generator, no food preservation, no travel to get anything. Any places that had gasoline had 5 hour lines with no guarantee that you'd get your $20 rationed amount. There are no phones either. We've been communicating barely by people's cell phones. But now that they are out of gasoline for their cars too, they won't be able to keep them charged.

It's so frustrating trying to get them help from 1,000 miles away.

People didn't know where to go if they left. The problem with this storm is that a) no one knew where it would hit--they said it would come ashore on the western coast anywhere from Naples to Tampa; b) they said it would come ashore downgraded and continue to lose strength as it traveled across land--it hit Naples as a Category 3 and remained so as it traveled across the state; c) buildings are protected from storms from the east--this storm came from the west.
