Default Re: Trimming the family budget...

Well stopping drinking alcohol seems to have saved me $$$$$ this last month as I'm not going out with friends so much for drinks which invariably leads to dinner.

Also taking a packed lunch to work (or leftovers from dinner the night before), not buying my coffee as I walk into work in the morning, cancelling newspaper delivery and not buying magazines or books (use the public library instead).

Phone up all your service providers (internet/mobile phone etc) and ask them what offers they have and switch plans (don't know about over there but here, they don't tell you about deals..you have to go to them)...call up your credit card companys and tell them to wipe off your annual fees or you change cards.

Shop according to season (get cheaper veggies), cut back on dry cleaning, don't buy any more toiletries until you have used up all that you have (and I know you have lots of everything because we all do), clear out your jewellery box and weigh in any broken gold chains or earings where you have lost the other one, valet the car yourself, ...erm. Thats all I can think of for now without going onto cutting petcare expenses.

I just cut my maid's hours and thats painful enough. I sympathise with you.
