Nap Time!! Any of you experienced moms- I have a question. :baby_girl
How many naps a day should a four month old be taking? As many of you know, Mackenzie will be 4 months old September 18th. Since birth, I have subscibed to the Babywise way of sleep/wake/eat scheduling. Any babywise moms out there? Mack is breastfed completely and I have not yet started solids (I assume I will be soon after her next check up). Anyway, she is currently on a 3 1/2 hr schedule, meaning she eats every 3 1/2 hours for the most part. (Sometimes her evening feedings are more like 3). But she is sleeping through the night (about 7.5) hours straight most nights, except for a nightly diaper change. I try to keep her up from feeding time to nap time at least 1/2-2 hours during the day each cycle. Then she sleeps for 1 1/2 hrs. (So that ends up being about 3 1 1/2 hr naps during the day apart from sleep at night)
My MIL keeps making little comments to my husband that she thinks Mack is not getting enough wake time during the day, and that she is taking too many naps. All I know, is that I have a happy baby who is alert, plays, and is very content and social most of the time and who sleeps well at night. Do I need to be eliminating a nap time or something? OK, and if not now, when do I? Will I automatically eliminate a nap when I start extending her times between feedings to 4 hours or more?
I would appreciate some advice from you experienced moms! |
