Well, good luck to him, I guess.
The argument, "You can't blame a guy for trying to feed his family" is the oldest and saddest of the "excuses" for going to GoJet. Sorry to be harsh, but it's the way it is. I may be in the minority on
THIS board, but I'm certainly not alone in this thinking elsewhere. Actually, there are PLENTY of other options instead of going to GoJet. (And I recently moved from STL, so I know this firsthand.) Just like Kristie said,
"there are lots of jobs other than gojets....he does not *have* to fly for an airline." There are more than a few pilots out of work right now. More than a few in this horrible situation. Why are there still empty classes at GoJet? Because these pilots realize that going to an alter-ego airline is NEVER the right answer.
That flying should have been Trans States pilots' flying. Instead, they (TSA management) created an alter-ego airline to completely screw over the pilot group. And, anyone who goes there IS also directly screwing the pilot group at Trans States. Going there will not be forgotten. It will follow anyone who tries to get a job with another airline somewhere down the road. Perhaps there are
some (and I mean very few) in the aviation world that are unfamiliar with GoJet, but those people will retire one day, and be replaced with other pilots who are all too familiar with the situation. Perhaps they'll be Trans States pilots! Perhaps they'll be on the hiring board.
I wish I'd seen this post before, but I haven't been able to get online much. I could have told you the problems GoJet pilots have getting on other aircraft. How they literally HIDE their badges walking through O'hare. How people go OUT of their way to screw them over. How they get the middle finger more than several times a day. How they're "stepped on" on the radio. How other crews try to get the hotel van to leave them at the airport. How they are still, today, called "scabs" by many pilots. (Yes, by definition they are not
true scabs. But they're close enough.) Certainly not the life I'd want, but if you think it's the only way to feed your family, more power to you.

http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/regional/28747-more-transstates-furloughing-5.html This is definitely not "old news," nor is it forgotten.
Again, I'm sorry if you think this is mean or harsh. Me saying (or typing this, I should say) won't be the last time you hear these sentiments. For someone who doesn't have time to "wait it out," he should be most concerned with having a sparkling, crystal clear record. (Unless, of couse he wants to make a career of GoJet.)
Oh, one other thing I just thought of. More than a few airlines post a list of "potential interviewees" in crewrooms. Pilots at the company are then able to say "yea" or "nay" to those pilots getting interviews. Guess what happens to GoJet pilots? GoJet pilots are well known. The "scab list" is published, and my husband, (as well as many other pilots), has a copy.
