What? I've seen numerous pilots out of uniform with their badges out. My dh always has his badge handy, especially if he's nonreving. He always introduces himself to the captain of the flight and shows his badge, whether he's in uniform or not. He will also use his badge to go through security while in street clothes if he has to go in the nigh before a trip.
