So the big guy in the middle says the the aisle guy "sorry I know I'm a big, do you have a problem?" or something nasty to that extent. So my friend tells the guy "dude thats a paying pax, don't be rude like that". Then the f/a comes over and makes my friend go up and talk to the f/o like he was the one that was mouthing off the the paying pax. Then they go back to the seat and the paying guy was like "no he was trying to help, its the other guy". So long story short, they all got on, but I don't know if the other guy got in any trouble or anything.

I just don't get how people can act like they are so entitled to something like that when they are certainly not! Even more so to the gate agents, I mean come on don't you get they can determine if you are on the flight or not? or if you're in a middle seat or in a row by yourself? Its like being rude to people who handle your food, its just something you don't do!!
I've had a riff or to with "paying pax" and IMO that does not make them more entitled than me. They don't know I'm a nonrever. I'm not going to let someone talk about how my child is going to disturb thier flight when we have just walked on the plane and my daughter has not made a peep. I love to NR. I think it is a great perk, but I don't feel inferior to paying pax's when I'm on the plane.
I have had a couple of rude agents but none that I've had words with. I just think, if they (the rude gate agents) can't handle people then why the heck are they working in "CUTOMER SERVICE!"

I do think if you give someone a buddy pass, you should remind them of NR etiquette!!
