I'm one of those nonrevers that have problems every time they fly, which is why I don't unless I just absolutely have to. It doesn't seem to matter how nice I am, I always seem to get the rude ass gate agents. It's like they hate me or something.
My last encounter went something like this.
I was in line at the ticket counter waiting to check in and get a first class upgrade. The lady at the counter asked if I was checking bags. I told her no. She said, "Use the machine."
I don't know what it is about those machines, but I can't use them. Every time I do, it says, see a gate agent. EVERY TIME. I told her I couldn't use those and besides I need a first class upgrade, which you can't do at those machines.
She argued that I could use them and demanded I do so. She actually went so far as to walk around and ask for my name. I just shook my head and told her my name. What the hell, right, she'd see soon enough. She typed in my name and sure enough it said, see a gate agent. She stared at it for a moment, then I replied, "so are you ready to take care of me now?"
The lady behind me snickered. The gate agent stalked behind the counter and nodded to the girl next to her, "She'll take care of you."
The lady continued being a bitch and said, "I'm going to report you to your husband's employer."
"For what? Being right?" I shrugged. "Go ahead. knock yourself out."
Once i had my ticket in hand, I called my husband and told him what happened and what she said. He just snorted and replied, "they would applaud you, don't worry about it."
He said nothing ever came of it and nothing was ever said to him. Stuff like this is seriously why I hate to fly...
