Re: Fireworks & Pets Both our babies have micro chips too. I even called around to the local pounds to make sure that they had readers that could read the chip information (there are different brands of chips and I wasn't sure what you had to have in order to read the chip).
The only "not enough" thing about the chip is if someone wants & takes your dogs. My vet mentioned that lots of pure breeds are stolen, not so much run off. We have a very striking purebred (we think) solid white english setter. She is so kind and gentle, so goes to anyone that will pet her. I am always leary about anyone paying too much attention to her.
By the way, ccbegay we got our boy's micro chip through a "Dog Days" Event sponsered by the local pound. It was really cheap. However it is the brand that you have to pay $10 to change your address when you move. We have moved & changed the address about 3 times. Our girl's chip we got at the vet's office. It was more expensive to implant but has free unlimited change of address. We have not moved once! So it cost about the same of each of them. But the fee to change the address maybe a consideration. And look for those events sponsered by the pound, you might get a special rate. |
