Default General Jackson Showboat

Not really sure if this post should be in the travel section or here. . .

For our 7th anniversary purchased dinner tickets on the General Jackson Showboat. The cruise, in Nashville, TN, starts at Opry Mills and heads downtown on the Cumberland River. It starts at 7:00 pm and last for 3 hours. There is live music as everyone boards (get there early and enjoy). You can purchase tickets just to ride on the outer decks and enjoy the views, about $20, tickets for the outer decks and a buffet dinner, about $40, or tickets for a sit down dinner and a show, about $60-$90. There are several bars on board that sell drinks, kinda expensive but who can resist? The bars also sell appetizers, also kinda expensive. No outside food or drinks allowed.

The views are so beautiful! Music is played over the intercom for the entire trip. (We did the cruise with buffet, so I can't speak for the sit down dinner or show.) And the atmosphere of being on the boat is great! If you live nearby or are coming to Nashville for a visit you really should put the General Jackson on the list of things to do. The next time we have out of town guest, we are taking them on the General Jackson. It is a nice enviorment to sit around and chat with friends (or snuggle with SO).
