Met up with hubby on a 27 hour overnight in PVD this past weekend. We had so much fun!! Rented a car on Travelocity drove to Mystic, CI toured the boardwalk and seaport and shopped in the quaint little shops. Watched the sunset at Conimicut Point, RI overlooking Narragansett Bay. Beautiful! The next day we drove over the HUGE Jamestown Bridge and went to Newport, RI to oogle the "seaside cottages" of the rich. Also went to the Newport Point State Park and watched about 100 sailboats line up for a sailboat race. Made a quick stop at Roger Williams Park in Cranston, RI and was very sad that the mins on the rental car return were ticking down and we didn't have longer to explore the park and zoo.
We were geocaching at all the spots visited. I must say that geocaching is a great way to visit some local favorite spots. Most of the spots we would have never went to without the cache drawing us there. And we would have missed a lot of great things.
Learned what Jimmies were, ie you want jimmies on your donut?. For the first time, ate a frozen banana dipped in dark chocolate, YUMMY! Several folks commented on our southern accents. Hubby turned into a smart ass and answered one girl's "Where are you guys from?" question with "Tennessee, you guys sure talk funny up here."
It was a great non rev trip. Felt a little odd that we were having so much fun while hubby was "working". But figure we should use the non rev benefits, who knows how long they will last!?!
