actually, those are all volunteers.... Delta only asked for 2000 volunteers and got 4000 that want to be volunteers, so they figure it's better to take the 4000 that want to go so that they can save a possible 2000 furloughs (if they ever needed to furlough that many).
i see it as kindof a good thing.
they tried to drop Mesa and when that didn't work, they tried to drop PCL and that also doesn't seem to be working. the way delta is doing it is kinda underhanded which is why the regionals are fighting the drops. but it seems like they obviously want to drop some regional services to cut costs (again).
