I have heard some offices tell people to have a full bladder. It might depend on the type of machine they use or just the technicians preference. They say it is easier to see since the u/s waves travel really well through liquid.

good luck!
it pushes the cervix up. one of the things that they look at is the lenght of the cervix, and make sure that it is staying closed. it is kinda of a 50/50 split right now in the radiology community of wether to fill the bladder or not. At the hospital I work at they want you to fill your bladder and will send you home if you don't. and we aren't a out of date facility. it is how the techs and DOCTORS were trained and it is how they obtain the best pics for you. When I had my us done at my hospital I had to fill my bladder, but when I had them at my specialist office I didn't. Again it came down to the doctor who was reading them.

here is a side piece of information. When Radiologist read a film (xray, ultrasound, mri, whatever) they look at thousands of films, there eyes become very trained. When they put up a new study they instanly notice that something is different. Then they start looking farther into it to see if it is "normal" different or bad different. Think about pulling into your driveway you do it a thousand times, with out even thinking about it you know what it looks like. it you pulled in and the the welcome mat was moved your eye would automaticly go there because something was different.

Anyway back to the point of a full bladder. If a doctor is trained and use to reading ultrasound with a full bladder, then changing to an empty bladder throws them off. It is hard for them to re-train thier eyes. one way isn't really better than another, it just comes down to who is reading the films and how they were trained.

I would always ask, or go with a full bladder, becuase you can empty alot easier than fill.
