How did it go? I was thinking about this earlier. I remember my SIL saying how she used to think her son would think "how could my mother allow this to happen to me" (of course I'm talking when he was an infant). I recall thinking that my son would think, "wow, my mom is here to comfort me". But in reality, they are so young they don't have a clue what is going on, they don't blame you for it and they don't give you the credit for comforting them because they simply don't know!!! Now as they get older, usually you get do get the credit for being able to comfort them and then the ice cream or a treat may come into play! So, don't sweat and don't get upset or worried that your child will always remember you allowing them to feel pain...they won't!!!! Hope it ended up going well for you.
