Okay, so we moved away from base to have a better life and all of that good stuff. Only been a couple of times where he's had to lay over in TO instead of coming directly home...
So here's the question..why is it that when he has these extra layovers my only contact with him is on the drive from the rental car to the friends he's staying with. Normally when he's on layover we text message (cheaper for us) I have no problem with this normally, I mean as soon as he got the rental car he was on the phone with me. But the next day after ART he called me again from the car. Not when he got to where he was staying but during the rush hour traffic in Toronto.
I told him I was going to get a complex from this. Call the wife and get it over with and move on to better things. I know that's not what he means but crap the last couple of times this has happened it's started to give me a complex.....We're both busy and it's hard to stay connected when he's away...........but sheesh.............I just want to talk about non important things ( ie read I want to hear your voice you idiot!!!)
Does anyone else feel this way sometimes? I have to admit that I'm tempted on occasion to NOT pick up the phone when I KNOW he's on his way to where he's staying or back to the airport. I've mentioned it to him before but I think I'm hitting a brick wall. The away life is different from the home life. I don't want to seem like a nagging Nellie but where the hell has all the romance gone??????
Oh, and by the way, we just got another 6 inches of snow this morning.....I am not a happy camper. And I think I'm pms..ing. Just great! (How come there's no chocolate gorging Smile?) |
Thank you ladies .. you've made me feel pretty darned blessed to have the husband I have. Not only does he text me when he lands n the base from his commute, he then calls once he's off the plane and we often talk (despite terminal noise) for upwards of 30 minutes. Because he's usually commuting in for a late night departure, he goes to the pilot lounge to catch some zzz's and there's no cell reception down there. But once he's rested, and before he's due in the weather room, he's back on the phone with me. Our cell service gives us ulimited minutes between the 2 of us, and he again calls before push.
Once he lands at his destination (Asia, Europe, the Middle East, India) he'll text me his hotel room number and it's MY turn to call using SKYPE. We've been Skype users nearly 5 yrs now; it's free to download and the calls to landlines are outrageously low. Even better, if hubby has internet service at the crew hotel, we can Skype from my computer to his for FREE.
When he's in-country we generally talk on Skype twice a day and shoot a few "Love U" texts back and forth. After reading what some pilots' wives go through, I feel doubly blessed to be married to such a sensitive and caring man.
Check out Skype.com if you're interested in cheap and free calls!
