This afternoon I was reading
Patrick Smith's latest column on salon.com. Its about seat comfort on flights -- in particular long-haul flights on Delta's 767s and 777s. They plan to outfit those planes w/ an innovative seat design from Thompson Solutions. The economy class will be outfitted w/ "cozy suites". In the end it will increase capacity by 30 pax.
Have a look for yourself:

I think its a great concept and certainly does look more comfortable. The main drawback I see is that this new separated cocoon-like arrangement precludes much (any?) socialization. Whether you're traveling alone or w/ your husband or a friend, the window and middle seat pax will sure have to do a lot of craning to talk to their row mates.
What do you think?
