Default perineum

Ok, yet another sex question, but this one has to do with injury. For the duration of my sex-career, initial penetration has always been painful, even with plenty of lube. Once he's in there, however, there tends to be no more pain.

When I pee after sex it oftentimes will burn a lot, suggesting a tear. Sure enough, this last go-round, my guy took a closer look. At the base (or back) of the opening of my vagina, where it leads into the perineum, there was a red irritated "fold" and a slight tear. A week has passed (with no sex to allow healing -- which was also "girl" time so that was convenient) and what remains is a white "scar".

What is the issue? I have not been pregnant; therefore, no vaginal birth or episiotomy. All the searches I have done online relate perineum tears to child birth. Is my perineum stiff/rigid and less able to flex/give to the penetrating penis? Is this a common sex injury? And what can be done to assuage further incidents?
