Re: Scheduling... I agree Sarah--this is a great thread!
Well, Charlie's airline has a 72 hour minimum. They all exceed it.
You can fly up to 100 hours per month per the FAA rules. Jan outlined the specific breakdowns in her message quite well!
Doug is right: ìbecause whose going to pay you 65 hrs for 20 hrs of work?î--that's what United did and US Airways, etc. See where they are now!
In 1994 I was on a US Air 767 flight from SEA to Pit to PHL. My dad had just died. I stayed on the plane after landing in PIT. A new Capt boarded the plane. He didn't know or care that I was there. He was complaining a lot. He said he was #2 in the seniority list and was being forced to fly this flight to PHL and on to Paris to remain current. He had his own side business at his home in PIT to run and resented this intrusion in his life. But then he went on to remind everyone that it cost the company $60,000 to train him if he didn't remain current.
So he was able to manipulate his schedule so that he never had to fly! Then he had an attitude about it! I wanted to beat the crap out of him. |
