I had specialist (doc) appointment this morning, but she wasn't highly motivated to talk to me, so I didn't get any information at all from her.. (I will have biopsy in month or so)..well I know the docs are busy, but right now I'm just huge walking question!

I can "google it", but I'm scared of what can come back...I know I'll be on thyroid hormone rest of my life...but the words nodules and biopsy scares me a lot.
I've been really tired during almost whole 2007 and sleepy as well...and with the treatment I didn't get any better...so my dosage from today is going to be 100 mg of Euritox ( levotiroxine)..( and with the new job .....I look like walking zombie)

Dana..I'd really appreciate any info ( special diet to follow, give up coffee..)...( specially on the biopsy- does it hurts?...),

thanks a lot..
Here in the states, most Endocrinologist's do the fine needle biopsy without any local. they don't go deep and it's a very small caliber needle.

How long have you been on Thyroid meds? Are you sure it is not 100 mcg (micrograms)? big difference than mg's (milligrams)

They are doing the biopsy to be sure that it is nothing serious like cancer. At your age, VERY RARE!!! Likely what you have is a multinodular goiter. We treat those with thyroid and monitor your blood level for your thyroid for the rest of your life. Extremely common problem. I check TSH on pt's at least every 6-12 months once they are stable. When adjusting thyroid dosage, every 6-8 wks. Stay with it till your level is with in normal limits, then follow up in 3-6mos to get it rechecked at least once.

Diet won't help anything including caffeine for HYPOthryoid. If you had HYPERthryoid, we wouldn't want you drinking a lot of caffeine because it can really raise your heart rate.

1 month is ok to wait. I know that it is frustrating and worrisome but try not to be. More than likely, all will be fine.
