Default TOTALLY unexpected

So, I recently started my first job as a news writer with a local (duh) paper.

I have never written anything remotely journalistic before. I did a short series of local travel columns and I've had an essay or two out there, but no news.

Today the story I turned in this morning was on the afternoon's front page, the editor said I did a "great job," and the story was submitted to the AP wire.

Now, it should be noted that it's the subject-matter of the story that got it on the front page, not the writing. STILL. That she said I did a great job felt AWESOME since I'm so new at this, and I'm totally psyched about having "by [me]" on the front page!!!!!!

I think my way of celebrating today will be to hold off exercising until tomorrow. Or Sunday.
